Beside the intimate theatre, the festival of old music and the music associations of the federal state also have room. The complex disposes a concert hall for 600 people. As regards urban development a clear sequence of the public open space is put in the foreground. The Universitätsstrasse will be extended and a joint is developed at it´s end. As a consequence the view is directed to the Hofkirche. The new ensemble provides the Hofburg an appropriate vis-á-vis and creates with the Landestheater a self-confident and a balanced cooperation from old and new. The design idea of the building is the fragmentation of the volume, furthermore to make the concertrooms visible from the public spaces. The parts of this structure become identity-establishing for the resident functions that can be allocated by the visitor from outside. The big entrance hall appears like a stage-like staging to the city. The visitors are noticed like actors on a stage in the huge entrance hall and in the public interior spaces infront ot the concert halls that can be recognized as sole parts of the structure. Huge windows (with shutters to close) give an insight on stages from the public space ouside, they show rehearsal, setup and decomposition and entrance of the audience before showtime. The big music hall is enlightend by a big window when rehearsling and can be shuttered. The big rehearsalroom on top of the building is orientated to a vegetated roof terrace and can be ideally booked for extern events.
